Fly Sniper Sergeant 10 Badges. Oct 23, 67 I can't help but notice that people don't like Magicka 2, so I decided to give the game my thoughts. Magicka 2 is a better game than Magicka 1 in most ways. Most ways, not all Here is why I like Magicka 2 over Magicka 1: Better Spell System: You are not rooted to the ground by your spells, many spells in M2 allows you move and cast at the same time. This makes the game feel more fluid and intuitive to me.
A mix of spells are required to defeat different types of enemies as opposed to M1 in which only a few spells are necessary.
Once I found the most OP spells in M1, the game became like slogging through the mud. I spam a couple of spells, and everything dies. Or I hit something with lightning and it just dies. I went back to the game after a year or two and I couldn't beat it because it was boring. The controls feel responsive in M2.
They feel clunky in M1. I have to wait a bit before casting. This could be the animations giving me this feeling, but I'm not sure. I do miss steam and ice not collapsing into one element in M1. I can live without this though. Customizable difficulty: Wait, hold up. I'm talking about Artifacts yes, but in my personal experience, I have not played a game with customizable difficulty since Battlefield !
In BF the AI's difficulty could be adjusted, along with other items which could swing the balance of the game in comp-stomps.
Magicka 2 offers this! It allows a player to chose how hard they want the game to be after they beat it. More games should do this! M1 has only 1 difficulty, and it makes the game harder to play again. Enemies are more diverse in M2: Having many enemies in M2 with different elemental attacks makes the game more interesting because you have to use many different wards. In M1 I just had to ward earth and occasionally un-ward it to heal.
Not a very dynamic game when I have very little need to ward other elements. Story: It's hard to say much about the story since M2 is not released yet, but I was dozing off when Vlad tried to setup the premise of M1.
In M2 I actually watched the cut-scene instead of skipping it the first time. You would constantly get better as you memorized the magicks and were able to fire them off quicker, the game seemed to have skill progression, which is lost in Magicka 2. For me it's still fun. Still, this game is pretty hard and pretty fun even solo you will fall a lot Magicka 1 has much more powerful spells like earth armor as it can make you literally go everywhere without much fear.
As graphic, I think Magicka 1 is sort of too dull and not vivid enough compare to 2. But this game really need major expansion quickly and not just something like Vietnam and or latest challenge.
It would be better for them to add big, long, journey soon. When on sale they are quite cheap, so get both :-D. Both of them are interesting.
Zombinette View Profile View Posts. Both are interesting, it's right but i prefer Magicka 2 : spells are better and there is a beautiful adventure. The first one somewhat "introduces" you to the world and the basic concepts, then comes the second one It improves the mechanics IMO and reshuffles the story and the world, my suggestion? Get both and play them in order. You should definitely try both, but if you want to play with friends, the 2nd is way more stable than the 1st one.
